Abstract/Summary:
China’s agricultural exports have been a major source of foreign exchange earnings. As one of the agricultural products, edible fungus held an increasingly larger proportion in recent years. To scientifically assess the international competitiveness of edible fungus, the factors that affect its power in international market, and to improve the edible fungus real competitive advantage will not only benefit in the growth of foreign exchange earnings, increasing the income of farmers and edible fungus enterprise of edible fungi, but also have important practical significance in resolving the problem of employment for partial agriculture labor force.Domestic and foreign scholars have made lots studies on the issue of international competitiveness, but less lucubrate in the international competitiveness of edible fungus. Thus, this article attempt to research the competitive power of edible fungus in the world market, and provide theoretical basis for government on ‘edible fungus’ s trade and economic policy’This article will start from the researching of the status quo of China’s edible fungus export trade, and use CMS model to analysis quantitatively of the intrinsic relations between international competitiveness and edible fungus export. Result shows the competitive power of edible fungi in world market is the main factor influencing the export of Chinese edible fungi, which is proportional to the export as well. Afterwards, the use of revealed symmetric comparative advantage index, occupation rate of international market, quality upgrading index and other three indexes assess comprehensively of the edible fungus’ international competitiveness. On this basis, Based on the ‘Multiple linear regression model- OLS estimates’ reach that export price of Chinese edible fungi, the standardization degree in the process of production and processing, the quality of edible fungi and green trade barrier and so on is the important reason that affect competitiveness.Through the above research, we draw following conclusions. The amount and the price of edible fungus exports are relatively lower and structural of the export market is comparatively simple. In additional, it center mainly on some Asia countries. Exports of edible fungus gradually get rid of the influence after influence of the economic crisis decline. The export of Chinese edible fungus is proportional to its international competitiveness, and competitive effect has an obvious role in promoting China’s edible fungus product export, the irrational market structure of Chinese edible as well as hinders the export growth. At the meanwhile, the multiple linear regression models show that China’s edible fungus international competitiveness has positive correlation with the supply of edible fungus, industrial standard and has negative correlation with export price, technical trade barrier and the exchange rate. Compared with other traditional agricultural powerhouse, the overall competitiveness of Chinese edible fungus is weak, but it upwards trend. The Chinese food export product has a high quality and added value, with quality upgrading index relatively large fluctuations. To promote the international competitiveness of Chinese edible, we need to adjust the unreasonable phenomenon of edible fungus exports, strengthen the government’s macroeconomic regulation and control to establish and perfect the edible fungus industry standards, and improve the quality of edible fungus products to reduce other countries demanding technical barriers to trade.
