This paper, based on the relevant theory of International Trade and Regional Economics, analyzes the mechanisms of industrial agglomeration affecting export competitiveness, and usesthe panel data method for empirical test of Zhejiang manufacturing’s data.At first, the article reviews the relevant theory and literature associated with industrialagglomeration and export competitiveness. On the basis, the paper elaborates the mechanism ofwhich Industrial Agglomeration Impacts on export Competitiveness via of reducing the productionand transaction cost of enterprise, strengthening the competition and cooperation among enterprise, and improving the innovation capacity of enterprise. Then, the dissertation describes thedevelopment status of Zhejiang manufacturing’s industrial agglomeration and exportcompetitiveness. Location quotient index and revealed comparative advantage index are adopted tomeasure the degree of industrial agglomeration of Zhejiang manufacturing, and the level of exportcompetitiveness respectively. According to the analysis of status, the paper studies the data ofZhejiang manufacturing’s20sub-industries from2004to2009, and then establishes the panel datamodel which location quotient index is as an explanatory variable and revealed comparativeadvantage index is as an explained variable. The empirical test shows that there exists significantindustry differences on which20sub-industries agglomeration impact on export competitiveness.Specifically, the industrial agglomeration of capital and technology-intensive industries canevidently elevate the improvement of export competitiveness. The industrial agglomeration oflabor-intensive industries and resource-intensive industries fail to markedly promote theenhancement of export competitiveness. Finally, author, according to conclusion of theoreticalanalysis and empirical results, proposes the suggestion that how to enhance export competitivenessof manufacturing by means of development of industrial agglomeration. In terms of capital andtechnology-intensive industries of which can remarkably strengthen the export competitiveness, department related ought to increase the subsidization of capital and technology-intensiveindustries’ R&D so that improves the innovation and cultivate the industry export competitiveadvantage. For some of labor-intensive industries and resource-intensive industries of which can’tmake distinct effect on improvement of export competitiveness, government should formulate the scientific programming in line with industry reality, conducting the development of industrialagglomeration reasonably.
