Electricity resource is a very important part of the energy. In recent years, with the great development of the economy, the total economy improved. The consumption of electricity increased and the problem of shortage of electricity began to emerge. Especially the power cut during the peak, which highlighted the imbalance between the supply and the consumption of electricity. This problem not only seriously affected the stable development of the economy, but also affected the normal life of the residents to some extent. Therefore, in this paper, taking the Chongqing as an example, based on the data of DMSP/OLS night lights, the electric consumption inversion model was constructed to study the dynamic changes of time and space and influence factors on the electric consumption, which has a certain scientific significance to the rational allocation of power resource in Chongqing. This paper has some main contents of research and some conclusions.(1) The inversion model established by the relationship between the data of DMSP/OLS night lights and the electric consumption of Chongqing was lg E = 1.01 lg DN + 1.37. The relative simulated of error between values and statistics were respectively-5.54%, 12.30%,-7.33%, 5.27%. These were consistent with previous studies, indicating that the data of DMSP/OLS night lights simulate the consumption of electricity, with high accuracy. The simulated results were reliable.(2) The distribution of spatial analysis showed that the consumption of electricity of Chongqing was in growing. The consumption of electricity in urban area was the highest, and the lowest was the ecological protection zones in the southeast of Chongqing. The consumption of electricity in urban functional areas accounted for the proportion of electric consumption in the city reduced gradually. Yubei, Jiulongpo and Shapingba were the main areas of the consumption of electricity. The electric consumption proportion of the city development zone, the ecological development conservation area in the northeast of Chongqing and the ecological conservation in the southeast of Chongqing, were increased year by year. Fuling, Changshou, Jiangjin, bishan and Wanzhou were the main areas of the electric consumption.(3) The analysis of spatio-temporal variation of Chongqing showed that the distribution of the electric consumption of city was spatial correlation but weakened gradually. The gathered phenomenon on the whole space was less and less obvious. The low and middle level of the electric consumption was predominant. The electric consumption level was increasing gradually in general. The low level of electric consumption was decreasing, while the high level of electric consumption was gradually expanding. The low level of electric consumption was distributed in the ecological conservation of development area in the northeast of Chongqing and the ecological reserve area in the southeast of Chongqing. The secondary and higher was given priority to with the development area of city, and all of the high electric consumption was in urban functional areas. At the same time, the electric consumption growth obviously, and the proportion of the area of medium growth was 29.51%, which was mainly distributed in the development area of city.(4) The analysis of influence factors of the electric consumption showed that the GDP, the fixed assets investment and the non-agricultural population in Chongqing was a significant correlation with the consumption of electricity and regional difference, but the correlation on the wane. Among them, in Yuzhong, the GDP, the fixed assets investment and the non-agricultural population was high, but the consumption of electricity was low; While in Yu Bei, the GDP and the non-agricultural population was low, but the fixed assets investment and the consumption of electricity was high. Especially the ecological reserve area in the southeast of Chongqing, there was no obvious correlation between the GDP, the fixed assets investment, and the non-agricultural population with the electric consumption.
