Operational Efficiency And Its Influencing Factors Research On The Family Farms In Jingzhou City

As an important new type of agricultural management, the family farm not only insists on treating the family as a unit for production and operation, but also promotes the farmers’income through scale operation, which makes it suitable for agricultural modernization in our country. Thanks to the unique advantages of the family farm, it has developed well all over our country. Lots of scholars studied about the family farm from all aspects, such as the connotation, characteristics, types, stage of development, existing problems and so on, which enriched the theoretical and empirical studies of family farm greatly.Based on the realistic background above, this paper selected Jingzhou’s family farms as the object, researched operating efficiency and its influencing factors about them. First, combing the basis of domestic and foreign researches on family farms operating efficiency, this paper had a systematic review and draws on the household contract responsibility system theory, agricultural scale management theory and land property rights theory, defined the basic concepts of family farms and new agricultural business entities, reviewed and summarized the development process and the development effectiveness of family farms in Jingzhou City. Then, this paper calculated methods to explore the family farms’ operating efficiency values, measured and analyzed the efficiency of the overall size, the pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of 78 family farms in Jingzhou City, had an analysis of their input-output situation. Based on all of these, this paper established the To bit model to analysis the operational efficiency factors on them. Finally, based on research findings, this paper put forward the corresponding countermeasures.There are four main conclusions of this paper:Firstly, most of the family farms in Jingzhou City have greatly improved operating efficiency and optimization of space; Secondly, in the remuneration scale distribution phase, Most of the family farm in the run increasing returns to scale or decreasing phase, different scale of operation under the state presented to differentiate the characteristics; Thirdly, redundancy of land input and capital input in Jingzhou is more than redundancy of labor input. Last but not least, there are four explanatory variables which influence the operational efficiency of family farms. They are operating area of land, labor, and investment, leasing land rent and operating net income.According to conclusions above, this paper pointed out six suggestions:first of all, perfect entry and exit mechanisms family farms based on the policy document to solve ill-defined mix of family farms develop adverse situation; secondly, improve agricultural land transfer mechanism, optimize land use efficiency to promote optimal scale family farms operating level; Thirdly, advocates intensive management, optimize allocation of production factors to promote input-output proportional about family farms in Jingzhou City; fifth, focus on improving the overall quality and management level of the family farm operators to resolve the adverse consequences of poor management of the family farm to bring; Finally, allocate labor optimally., establish and optimize the long-term mechanism of scale efficiency study to promote the sustainable and healthy and steady development of family farms in Jingzhou City.
