Research On Operational Efficiency Of Family Farms And Influencing Factors

In the early time of 1980 s, the Household Contract Responsibility System is carried out in our rural, which liberates and develops the productive forces in order to accelerate rural economies.However, after more than 30 years of economic development, the Household Contract Responsibility System has such many problems as land scale shrinking, land fragmentation worsening, unavailable agricultural production factors, which are increasingly emerging, on the condition of the huge change of internal and external environment in our country. Especially, with the process of the industrialization and urbanization in China accelerating, the phenomenon of hollow-oriented in the rural areas,aging farmers increases, land conversion, non-farmers going up,non-farm rural population expanding occur. As we all know, the problems that who will do farm work and how to do farm work, are becoming more and more obvious. How to innovate the rural productive system? The key to the answer is to cultivate the new agricultural operator. In fact, with the rural reform further deepening, the new agricultural operators likely grain production households, family farms, farmer professional cooperatives are developing to some extent.Particularly, family farms, one of the new agricultural operators, which guides the direction of our modern agriculture and represents the advanced productivity of our rural economics,needs to be further developed. How is the operating efficiency of family farms? What factors are influencing it? These problems are well worth further studying and concerning.Based on the reality, Family farms are referred as the research object.The operational efficiency of family farms is calculated by input-oriented DEA method,on the basis of which, the influencing factors of operational efficiency of family farms are analyzed by Tobit model based on the value of operational efficiency of family farms.According to the study result, there are three conclusions in this article: first of all, the size of comprehensive efficiency greatly depends on scale efficiency and that the appropriate scale management of rural land has been a critical factor in enhancing operational efficiency of family farms;According to the study result, there are three conclusions in this article: first of all, the size of comprehensive efficiency greatly depends on scale efficiency and that the appropriate scale management of rural land has been a critical factor in enhancing operational efficiency of family farms; secondly, the pure technical efficiency has remained at a relatively low level;thirdly, the operational efficiency is significantly affected by the quantity of labor force,the scale of investment,the cost of land circulation, the number of agricultural machinery,loan fund,the subsidies of agricultural machinery and agricultural insurance. On the basis of those conclusions, it is advised that the government should make great efforts to provide policy support to family farms and improve and perfect the land system in the article. what is more,the government should do its best to improve the agricultural socialized service system.
