With the advent of economic globalization and the information age, the domestic enterprises are facing increasingly fierce market competition, the factor of human resource is increasingly becoming a key organizational strategic objectives and core elements, human resource management strategies is more and more important in the strategic position of modern enterprise management. Performance management as the core of modern human resource management, the most meaningful of which is through sustained attention on the performance of staffs and the organization, and laid communication and feedback in the whole process of the performance appraisal, to achieve the improvement of employee performance and the business management. Performance assessment is a very important subsystem of performance management system, it plays an important role in the process of performance management.With the rapid development of China’s economy, people’s insurance awareness is constantly reinforced, the insurance industry achieved a rapid development, the competition of which is also becoming increasingly fierce. A complete and standardized set of performance appraisal system allows employees to improve the sense of responsibility, and constantly improve their own performance level, and make enterprises more competitive. Performance assessment has been a hot discussion in the theoretical circle, and also a important tool of business practice applications. It has played a crucial role in the efficient and scientific management of businesses staff and the growth of the company. However, the study of performance appraisal in the insurance industry is still relatively scarce, so the research of the performance assessment in Chongqing Branch of ZGR is significant in theoretically and practically.In this paper, literature research, questionnaires, interviews and the combination of standardized research and empirical study methods were used to analyze the employees’ performance assessment state of Chongqing Branch of ZGR, the problems appear in the company performance appraisal system and the causes of these problems in the form of questionnaires, and finally give constructive comments and suggestions to improve and refine the company’s performance appraisal. This paper is divided into six chapters: The first chapter introduces the background and significance of the research, as well as the research status both in domestic and foreign countries. Based on the review of the research results at home and abroad, the existing theories were carefully commentary and analysis. The second chapter was the review of performance-related theories. The status of employee performance appraisal of Chongqing Branch of ZGRS analyzed in the chapter three. In the fourth chapter, some problems existing were analyzed in performance appraisal, as well as the causes of the problems through the methods of questionnaires and interviews. In the fifth chapter, the proposed measures and recommendations to improve branch performance evaluation were put forward. At the very last is the concluding part, the contents of this study were summarized.
