Case Study Of The Port Design Company Of CCCC Project-driven Management

Against the backdrop of the rapid economic development, considerable amount of construction projects are carried out in China every year. As a result, more and more design and consulting companies operate in the project-driven approach. Although project management has been developed and widely applied in design and consulting companies, there are many issues worth discussing in the practice of managing projects.The thesis aims to analyze and study the actual issues from aspects including organizing project-driven management, transitioning and cultivating the role of the project manager, and rationalizing the stimulus mechanism using theories drawn from project management and organizational behavior. The production and organization agility is proposed in the thesis; the project managers are expected to improve the managing methods and to compete for the position; KPI approach is adopted in performance management in the hope to solve the inequality resulted from the single reviewing index, in which performance feedback is emphasized to ensure the fairness of the review; incentive decided by technology is utilized considering the technology-centered feature of the design and consulting companies, which would further guarantee the fairness of the stimulus mechanism and encourage the staff to commit themselves to related technology training. The thesis attempts to improve the general project-driven management through the above solutions and bring about win-win economic benefits for both the company and the staff. The study hopes to shed light on the practice of the project-driven management of the design and consulting companies in general.
