With the slow recovery of the global economy, Chinese life insurance companies have the opportunity to growing. More and more foreign life insurance companies enter to the Chinese Market. How to achieve sustainable development has been the issue in our life insurance companies. Scientific performance appraisal can get twice the result with half the effect to enterprises. The traditional performance evaluations focus on financial performance in our life insurance companies. The balanced scorecard supplements the inadequacy of financial indicators. The balanced scorecard from four aspects to reflect the corporate strategy: financial, customer, internal process, learning and growth. The aim of this thesis is to introduce the balanced scorecard. Because of the balanced scorecard can improve the life insurance company’s performance appraisal. Life insurance companies can increase the intangible asset in the rapid development at the same time.Starting from the performance evaluation, analyzing of the domestic and foreign life insurance company’s performance appraisal. Pointed out that the current part of the life insurance company’s performance appraisal only pay attention to financial indicators, do not pay attention to non-financial indicators.Evaluation was performed by four kinds of evaluation methods on the life insurance company’s performance appraisal; by four methods for evaluation index of target set for the life insurance companies; through the three methods of index weight for life insurance companies to measure the evaluation.Based on Balanced Scorecard, I construct 8 indexes for management in life insurance company’s renewal department. I construct 7 indexes for Service personnel.Then, taking the S life insurance company’s B department as the research object, through access to insurance information methods, Analyze the causes and problems existing in the current enterprise performance appraisal problems, Perfect the evaluation index by balanced scorecard, By the weight factor method to measure the weight of evaluation index, in order to improve the efficiency of the Department.Finally, I draw the conclusion:The Balanced Scorecard as a performance management tool innovation is the existence of competitive advantage. Life insurance company can be based on the long-term goal of enterprise, by using the Balanced Scorecard to evaluate the performance of the company from four aspects, to improve the effectiveness.
