Vegetables are an integral part of national life of agricultural products,to protect the stability of vegetable production related to people’s livelihood.Great changes have taken place in the spatial pattern of vegetable production in China since the reform and opening up and vegetable production shows the feature of geographical clustering. To analysis vegetable production agglomeration characteristics and influencing factors of agglomeration, that not only can konw the path and causes of evolution of the spatial distribution of vegetable production but also can provide the basis for agricultural production structure adjustment and optimization of vegetable production layout. It is of great significance for stable and sustainable vegetable production and promoting vegetable industry development to understand spatial-temporal characteristics and affecting factors. The main contents and conclusions are as follows:(1)Vegetable production agglomeration level measurements. The research was based on the data of 1978-2013 China’s provinces vegetable production, use measuring method of space Gini coefficient, FLQ value, the global spatial autocorrelation indices and local spatial autocorrelation index, measured annual China’s provinces vegetables production concentration degree during 1978 to 2013.(2)The spatial and temporal characteristics of vegetable production agglomeration. The study was based on measuring the level of agglomeration, depicts the spatial and temporal characteristics of vegetable production agglomeration. The results show that the vegetable production geographic agglomeration present a tendency of increase with stage characteristics. The vegetable production in total showed a medium agglomeration level but the regional agglomeration level varied. Vegetable production geographic agglomeration has the feature of regional gradient and contiguity.(3)Analysis on factors of vegetable production agglomeration. The study carry out research on the factors that may affect the implementation of vegetable production agglomeration.Use the way of empirical analysis to analysis the factors affecting vegetable production agglomeration based on the data of China’s vegetable productionfrom1995 to 2013.The results show that China’s vegetable production agglomeration factors mainly: irrigation, payrolls, market demand, knowledge spillovers, comparative effectiveness, rural roads and government policies.(4)Research findings and policy recommendations of vegetable production agglomeration.Based on the spatial-temporal characteristics and affecting factors of vegetable production, the corresponding suggestion were made: great importance should be attached to vegetable production agglomeration, characteristic and specialized vegetable production cluster district and vegetable production related industry. It is also suggested to improve vegetable production conditions, strengthen the infrastructures and establish vegetable production insurance system for the stabilization of farmers’ expected profits.(5)The innovation of the study lies in three aspects.First, the study highlights clear. This article based on the provincial-level data and integrated use of industrial agglomeration indicators and gathering maps, depicting the spatial and temporal characteristics of vegetable production agglomeration changes.Second is research innovation:This article use the the theoretical and empirical analysis the factors that may affect the China’s vegetable production agglomeration, and got the factors that affecting China’s vegetable production agglomeration.Third is innovation research perspective:This article analysis of influencing factors of vegetables production agglomeration based on the new economic geography and spatial economics theory, which can supplement the China’s vegetable production agglomeration research experience to the field of industrial agglomeration study.
