Since the beginning of the reform and opening up in 1978, the rural population and cultivated land profound changed as the rapid developed of industrialization and urbanization in China, As the state of implementation of the old industrial bases in northeast China revitalization plan, the Northeast has entered the industrialization and urbanization accelerated development stage. Rural population of the northeastern region also experienced significant changes, 1990-2010 rural population continued to decrease in the Northeast, while the same period the cultivated land actually was an increasing trend change. Rural population and cultivated land is a key factor in agricultural production in rural areas, the study area is also an important part of the relationship between population and land countryside. In the northeast region in the process of rapid urbanization, rural population trends and changes in farmland should have a certain relationship, while the rural population and arable land distribution should be a couple relationship. This paper summarizes the research progress on the basis of the use of geography, human geography, and other related knowledge and theory, the use of geographic information systems and mathematical modeling approach for the rural population and arable land distribution and the correlation between changes in an extensive theoretical and empirical perspectives of comprehensive and systematic analysis, including the total amount of arable land and rural population and changes in trends, spatial and temporal distribution changes and driving mechanism, thus providing a basis for the development of future sustainable development policy rural Northeast. Finally, the above analysis, the northeastern region of rural population and arable relationship elaborate. This paper is divided into seven chapters. In this paper, the theory as the theoretical basis for people to explain the relationship between the rural population and arable land in Northeast China through theoretical analysis and econometric analysis. The main points are as follows:(1) 1990-2010, with the rapid development of urbanization, industrialization, distribution changes in Northeast rural population and arable land are changed, it continued to decline trends northeast region presented on the total rural population, while the total cultivated volume trends are showing an increase.(2) the rural population of the northeastern region showed a decreasing trend and there are regional differences, 1990--2010 years, the number of rural population in the northeastern region a significant reduction, of which the rural population in Liaoning Province, the biggest decrease, followed by Jilin, Heilong Jiang province countryside the smallest population decline. Secondly, the changes in the characteristics and problems of population structure in Northeast China, through analysis showed that rural population age structure in Northeast China to aging, while the working-age rural population decreased more emphasis on aging. By contrast in 1990, changes in the rural population in 2000 and 2010, the spatial distribution, that most of the rural population of the cities and counties in Northeast China showed a continued downward trend. 2 continued to increase in the region are located in Heilong Jiang Province. The remaining counties showing instability, which has increased 14 counties, 13 located in HeilongJiang, one located in Jilin Province. Cities and counties in Liaoning province rural population were reduced. By calculating the distribution of the rural population center in Northeast China shows that the focus of the rural population from 1990 to 2010, moved eastward 84.19 km, moved northward 228.49 km, presenting ma Jor moves northward trend, the focus falls on the final Dehui in Jilin Province City. Rural population in space showed a certain clustering, by spatial autocorrelation analysis, 20 years ago,the rural population presents characteristics of spatial agglomeration and clustering to increase in2000, to 2010 degree of concentration did not change significantly. "Hot" and "cold spots" areas are located in the economically developed areas and economically less developed areas, mainly in the low high region around the "hot spot" areas.(3) 1990-2010, the Northeast region tended to increase arable land, arable provinces showed an increase trend to varying degrees, according to the changes in the intensity of arable land arable land of contrast and dynamic analysis, arable land and farmland dynamic changes in the intensity of the largest in Jilin Province, followed by Heilong Jiang Province and Liaoning Province.Northeast types of cultivated land change analysis, in which the overall rate of increase paddy field in Northeast China the rate of increase is greater than the dry land. Arcgis software by arable land distribution study, the northeastern region of cultivated areas are mainly distributed in dense two Plain in Heilong Jiang Province, the economic development zone in western Liaoning Chang Jitu economically developed area in Jilin Province and Liaoning Province. The arable land is sparse areas are mainly distributed in the Greater Xing’an Mountains in HeilongJiang Province and Xiaoxing’anling region, places where ethnic minorities in southern Liaoning, Jilin Province and Liaoning Province. Finally, analysis of the spatial distribution of the changes in the northeastern region of farmland, mainly in the area of increased resources are abundant in the area of arable land, and the area of arable farmland resources disadvantaged showed a decreasing trend.(4) changes in the northeastern region of rural population and arable land have some connection, Northeast rural population change and arable land distribution, changes in the distribution of arable land and the rural population have certain coupling relationship by calculating the population pressure index of cultivated land, can be learned, the unit of arable land area of rural depopulation, which indicates that the reduction of arable land on the whole unit carrying the rural population, the rural population has increased comrades of arable land resources.Population pressure index on cropland and reduce the rate of the rural population has somecoupling between the unit of arable land in densely populated areas of the countryside and rural depopulation coupling relationship between the magnitude of a certain unit of arable land in densely populated areas of the countryside and rural depopulation large amplitude region basically.(5) the development of urbanization, the force and the relevant national policies and agriculture in rural areas of the Northeast region are factors rural population and arable land changes. Which urban development is one of the driving factors that influence both the change, the force of rural and agriculture are the main factors affect the rural population change, national policies are directly related to both changes.
