There are three factors prompting economic growth, Consumption is the most stable and enduring factor.18th CPC National Congress indicated that GDP and Urban and rural incomes in2020would be twice as much as those in2010.In order to finish the task, we should expand domestic demand for a long time. China is a populous country, The vast majority is the rural population. Rural consumption has great potential. Expand rural consumption market and improving the level of rural consumption is important to raise the level of national consumption and expand domestic demand. The study of consumption structure of rural residents can understand the status of the consumption structure of rural residents and find hidden problem in the consumption structure, what is more, The study of consumption structure of rural residents can guide consumers’ behavior and make them form good consumption patterns so as to promote economic development.On the basis of the system combing consumer economy theory, we analysis the current situation and changes in consumption structure of rural residents of Fujian Province. Then we find the problem of residents’ consumption structure and identify the cause of the problem. Based on the above analysis, we propose suggestions of optimizing the consumption structure of rural residents. The suggestions are increasing the income of rural residents, strengthening supply of rural public goods supply, Improving rural consumption environment, Improving the social security system in rural areas; enhancing the quality of rural residents, changing consumers’ attitudes, increasing the intensity of macroeconomic regulation, providing policy support.
