Study On Tourism Development And Protection Of World Heritage Of Mount Wuyi

Currently, along with the booming heritage tourism and the shock of economicdevelopment, the World Heritage Sites in China are faced with a serious threat thattourism region gradually becomes overloaded and developed irrationally. A mass ofconstructions, such as cableways, various hotels, and imitations of historicallandscape, have been built on Wuyi Mountain under the pretext of developing tourism,which results in a number of sights with historical and cultural value suffering fromdestruction. Furthermore, the problems existing in the tourism developing of WuyiMountain are the consequences of imperfect legal system, lacking professionalmanagers and capital.Therefore, the discussion of how to harmonize the relationship between heritageprotection and tourism development has always been concentrated on by scholars.There is no doubt that the developing of heritage tourism on Wuyi Mountainaccelerates the growth in local economy. However, some irrational tourism activitiescause great damage to the places of interest, having a negative impact on thesustainable development of tourism region in long run. The innovative research ofWuyi Mountain which is the World Heritage Site will play a significant role in theprocess of protecting other World Heritage Sites in China.Based on the previous studies and theories, the empirical research of thisdissertation will refer to collecting and analyzing tons of data from the WuyiMountain tourism on the purpose of improving the research about tourismdevelopment of Wuyi Mountain and making contribution to the general study of theworld heritage tourism.
