Research On Competitiveness Of Logistics Industry In Hubei Province Based On Improved Weighted Principal Components TOPSIS Method

With the rapid development of national economy, logistics industry in China hasmarched into a higher stage. However, the level of logistics industry in central regionstays below the national average, hindering the growing of modern logistics. Hubeiprovince, located in the central of China, the enhancement of the competitiveness inlogistics industry will keep the whole domain healthy. Thus, it has become theforemost issue for the government and companies to scientifically evaluate thecompetitiveness of logistics development in all regions of Hubei Province, in order todevelop logistics industry development planning.Firstly, based on the related theories of logistics, industrial competitiveness,logistics industry, logistics and industrial competitiveness, the current developmentand existing problems of logistics industry in Hubei Province was analyzed, with thehelp of industrial competitiveness models and logistics industry competitivenessmodels. Secondly, according to principle of the establishment of competitivenessevaluation index system, logistics industry competitiveness evaluation index systemwas built; meanwhile, the index system was optimized. Thirdly, weighted principalcomponents TOPSIS logistics industry competitiveness evaluation model was putforward, with the aid of principal component analysis and distance method on themerits; we also detailed the procedure, advantages and disadvantages, and applicablecondition concerning this model. Finally, we ranked the competitiveness developmentlevel of sixteen cities and elaborated on current situation of the logistics industry inHubei Province. Countermeasures and suggestions were provided specifically, in orderto enhance the competitiveness of the logistics industry in Hubei Province.
