Reseacrh On The Resource Integration Of New Ventures Based On The Theory Of Bricolage

A resource constraint is the most primary restricting factors on startup. Due to their lackof legitimacy and reputation and so on, they find it difficult to get resources from outsideinvestors, only through the efficient use of resources currently in hand to alleviate thissituation. So how to creatively integrate use of these resources, in order to excavate potentialvalue, build new uses, exploit new opportunities to ensure the survival of enterprises andpromote its growth? Traditional resource-based view while put forward resource integrationability to important function that the formation of resource heterogeneity, but did not say suchintegration is "how to happen?”And the theory of bricolage is able to answer this questionvery well. Therefore, Baker, Nelson and Aldrich introduce this theory into the field of entre-preneurship research; put forward the concept of entrepreneurial bricolage. This is a newtheory in the field of entrepreneurship, from a new perspective to interpreting the strategicbehavior characteristics and regularity of entrepreneurs’ use of resources. This articlesystemly combed the entrepreneurship research situation about the theory of bricolage. Atpresent, the abroad research progress about the theory of bricolage is very quickly, empiricalresearch has already begun. But under domestic based on Chinese situation to the research ofbricolage is very little, still in the phase of theoretical study and the concept of. Therefore,based on the situation of China, to exploratory research on the enterprise applied the theory ofbricolage in the conduct of the resource integration, has a certain theoretical and practicalsignificance.In order to help the localization research about the theory of bricolage, method ofgrounded theory is used in mechanical manufacturing industry as the research background,deeply rooted in the Chinese context, combined with depth interviews and secondary data tocollect data. Through the initial codes to extracted86major concepts and summarized as12categories, listed in the following: new weaknesses, situational factors, entrepreneurs,physical resources, human resources, technical ability, market, break through the resourceconstraints, network, reputation, and improvisation. By focused coding and theoretical codingfurther established a theoretical framework in the process of resources integration based on the theory of the bricolage, and analysis model by the story line, elaborated under thesituation of China, when facing different kinds of resource constraints, measures taken by theenterprise, as well as the important role of network and entrepreneurs in the bricolage. Finallyto the conclusion compared with the existing literature analysis, discussed the three coreelements of bricolage and the characteristics of the five areas of bricolage, points out thedifferences, found bricolage easier to occur in filed of physical and human resources.
