A Study On Economic Growth Effect Of Chinese Logistics Industry By Using Foreign Direct Investment

With the development of the global economy and the acceleration of economic globalization, the profit margins of the manufacturing industry and business are gradually shrinking; People pay more attention to logistics which is treated as "the third profit source". Meanwhile, the level of modern logistics has become a comprehensive indicator of national power and modernization. In recent years, China has achieved positive results in the logistics, but compared with other countries, the logistics of China is still in its early stage.At the same time, under the impetus of the wave of globalization, FDI acting as a link tie of economic globalization has been seeping into the logistics. It gradually consummates logistics network of our country and integrates social logistics resources through M&A, which finally promotes the development of local logistics enterprise. However, compared with other industries, the scale and effectiveness of logistics in our country are disappointing, and logistics has failed to take full advantage of the externality of FDI. In this background, this paper will firstly introduce the present development of logistics and the basic situation and the existing problems of logistics, then discuss the economic effect of FDI in the logistics industry under the condition of open economy. Moreover, the paper will give related measures and suggestions to promote the development of the logistics industry in our country effectively.This paper selects statistical data of logistics industry using FDI amount and China’s per capital GDP from1993to2012and analyzes the relationship between logistics industry utilizing FDI and China’s economic growth using theoretical and empirical method. It also analyzes the specific mechanism which affects economic growth and then compares the effects. The results show that logistics industry using FDI can promote the economic growth and there is a steady coordinating relationship between them, they are Granger causation relation. The logistics industry using FDI impact the economic by capital effect, technology effect, employment effect, industrial structure effect, and technology effect is the largest and its coefficient is0.413527. Then the coefficient of technology effect, employment effect and industrial structure effect is0.229667,0.199227and0.393954. According to the empirical result, this paper proposes corresponding measures as follows----improve China’s logistics industry using FDI to a higher level, give full play to its effect on economic growth, and improve its comprehensive strength.
