The Impact Of Logistics Industry Agglomeration On Regional Economic Growth

Since the reform and opening up,China’s economy maintained a strong momentum of development and achieved great success.With the development of economy,an emerging industry-the logistics industry grows rapidly,the number of enterprises increased,the service capacity is significantly improved,and industrial agglomeration occurs.Logistics industry is an important industry for the healthy development of the national economy.With the emergence of its industrial agglomeration,the concerns that what a large influence it would have on China were raised.The experts who researched the theory of industrial agglomeration generally agreed that industrial agglomeration is an important way to promote the development of regional economy.However,in the empirical test,scholars won’t get the same results.While most studies have concluded that industrial agglomeration will contribute to regional economic growth,there are some studies that show that industrial agglomeration does not have a significant effect on economic growth.By using interprovincial panel data from 2001 to 2015,this paper are analyzed by Panel Threshold Model to test the impact of logistics industry agglomeration on regional economy.Firstly,this paper summarizes the theories of industrial agglomeration which including the theory of division of labor,external economic theory and agglomeration economic theory and so on,and analyzes the mechanism of logistics industry agglomeration on the regional economy,it provides theoretical basis for the research.Secondly,the paper analyzes the present situation of China’s logistics industry from a number of perspectives.Thirdly,By using the location entropy index,the paper measured the aggregation level of China’s logistics industry.The paper uses the relevant data to study the relationship between logistics industry agglomeration level and regional economic growth which tested by Panel Threshold Model.Finally,based on the conclusions of the empirical analysis,this paper give some advices which contribute to the development of logistics industry.This paper finds that there is a threshold effect on the influence of the agglomeration of logistics industry on regional economic growth.The increase in the concentration of logistics industry is always able to contribute to the development of the economy,but the impact of logistics industry agglomeration on regional economy varies with the degree of different logistics agglomeration.When the degree of different logistics agglomeration is low,the economy develop fast;the impact of the agglomeration level on the economic growth will be weakened when the agglomeration level increases to a certain threshold value.But when the logistics industry gathers the level continues to increase,reaching another higher threshold,its role in economic growth is significantly enhanced,and its role in promoting greater than before.According to the result of the threshold model,it is found that the degree of different logistics agglomeration in China is increasing in recent years,and logistics industry in most areas is still in the stage of great promotion to the economy.
