Study On The Promoting Role Of Exhibition Industry In Building The World City Of Beijing

With the development of economic globalization, the exhibition industry, by virtue of itshigh-efficiency and high-growth, become the "booster" of the urban development and the"barometer" of the national economic growth. Moreover, the level of development of exhibitionindustry is also seen as one of the most important symbol of modern socio-economicdevelopment degree.As center of politics, economy and culture of China, Beijing has a unique advantage tooccupy an important position in the national and global economic development in exhibitionindustry. Thus, the exhibition industry in Beijing was once the most developed nationwide.However, there is a big gap compared with exhibition industry of other global cities.Firstly, this paper explores some relevant concepts and the relationship between exhibitionindustry and city development. By surviving on the development status of Beijing, bothexhibition industry and the world city building process shows us a good state during the EleventhFive. Secondly, the Promoting Role of Exhibition Industry in the World City Building of Beijingis studied from a qualitative point of view. The economic and social benefits, upgrading ofindustrial structure, economic and trade cooperation are mainly discussed. In addition, throughthe establishment of a mathematical model, the economic benefits of exhibition industry inbuilding the world city of Beijing is obtained. The model is used to analyze the contribution toBeijing’s GDP of exhibition industry. It is found that the contribution rate is very low. It isconsidered that the very little investment on the exhibition industry is responsible. Finally, bystudying on several common features of several global cities (Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, etc.),this paper puts forwards several recommends on Beijing’s exhibition industry development.
