With the great development of the global economy, the energy crisis, worldwide attention has been caught against environmental crisis and the ecological crisis. All countries around the world are focusing on the exploration of new efficient ways for energy saving and emission reduction. Energy Performance Contracting (EPC), which is regarded as a green and efficient management mechanism, has emerged in developed countries in Europe and other area in1970s. The Energy Serving Companies (ESCO), which are professional companies performing EPC, have gained a mature growth. At present, China is facing serious problem about dealing the balance for the energy supply and demand, thus learning foreign experience and accelerating the popularization and application of EPC will effectively speed up the development of China’s energy serving industry. The Twelfth Five Year Plan clearly stated again that Energy-saving and Environmental Protection Industry is one of the seven strategic burgeoning industries, and its significance has improved to a strategic altitude. In the document " The View About Accelerating the Development of Energy-saving and Environmental Protection Industry " authorized by the State Council in second half of2013, a new policy is issued to raise the EPC to be a important operation mechanism in the marketization of environment protection industry.Firstly, the article summarizes the current theory of enterprise competitiveness and gives a review on the advances of the research on Energy Serving Industry. Based on the theory and combined with the development status and characteristics of Energy Serving Industry of China, the influential factors for competitiveness of energy saving company (ESCO) is discussed, and an evaluation index sign system is built. Then, four common factors are extracted by processing the relevant index data of36listed companies of China’s Energy Serving Industry through the technique of factor analysis. The four common factors represent resource superiority, development ability, operation capacity and innovation ability. The rankings for competitiveness of these36ESCOs are obtained by the factor analysis results, The factor analysis results also indicate that the36ESCOs should be divided into four gradients in order of the factor analysis scores, and the36ESCOs should be classified into three categories of fund-depending, market-depending, technology-depending companies. In the end, some suggestions for improving the enterprise competitiveness of ESCO are made.
