Land is one of the most important basis of human survival and develop-ment,land use and land cover is developed under the influence of natural andhuman activities. As the deepen understanding of the earth, the land use/landcover change(LUCC)get more and more attention of human.Since the1990s, theland use/cover change(LUCC)has become one of the key research fields of theInternational Geosphere-Biosphere Program(IGBP)and the International HumanDimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change(IHDP)". Land useand land cover change is one of the reasons for the global change and also animportant part of global change research.Land use and land cover change in mining area has great influence on theregional ecological and environmental.As a big province of energy, it is veryimportant to have a reasonable plan of mining area land use.Taking taiyuanxishan mining area as the basis of land use/land cover research, use the2000, 2005,2005Landsat TM image data and the2014Landsat OLI image data, relayon the reasonable mining area land use classification system, the maximumlikelihood classifier interpretation was used to acquire the land use status quofigure; The14years’ land use/land cover change of xishan mining area wasanalysed qualitatively and quantitatively,mainly including the amplitude changesof land use, land use dynamic analysis, the transfer matrix of land use,etc., theland use structure of the study area, and the dynamic change process of differentland use types in time and space were summarized, then the driving forces ofland use change was discussed; The Markov model was used to predict thexishan mining area land use pattern in2014, then the predicted results wascompared with the actual land use pattern for accuracy verification.According tothe same conversion rules, the xishan mining area land use pattern in2014wasregarded as the research base, the Markov model was operated to forecast thefuture land use pattern of xishan mining area, and the prediction of xishanmining area land use situation was analyzed.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The each land use type change in taiyuan xishan mining area from2000to2014was arranged in the order: urban construction land> grassland>industrial and mining land>cultivated land>forest land>water area. Land usedynamic change from2000to2014, the largest is the urban constructionland,and its dynamic change rate is4.84%, the smallest change is the waterarea,the attitude is0.07%. (2)During the14years, the forest land,grassland, cultivated land, waterarea, industrial and mining land were all reduced, only urban construction landarea was increased. The largest land use type change is the urban constructionland, followed by the cultivated land. The increased urban construction area is202.07km2, the decreased cultivated land area is104.59km2; water area is almostthe same.(3)The forecasts suggested that in the case of external conditions stable,the land use status and development trend of2010to2014. In addition toincreasing urban construction land area, the forest land,grassland, waterarea,cultivated land and industrial and mining land and other land use typesdecreasing to some extent.
