Study Of Yanbei Commercial Town In The Qing Dynasty From The Perspective Of Agglomeration

Yanbei area is located in the north of Shanxi, which is on the south of Mongoliaand on the north of Jinzhong. Datong and Youwei in Yanbei area are important militarytowns. Along with the Qing Dynasty sees the Mongolia as a ally, Yanbei town fadesstrong military color, evoluting the important trade region of the Northern. With thedevelopment of trade between Han and Mongolian and the rise of the Sino-Russiantrade, many traders especially Shanxi merchants transport commodity to Kyakhtathrough Shahukou and Datong. It makes Yanbei town becomes an important transferalong the station for Shanxi merchants going west. Now the study of commercial townin the Qing Dynasty mostly focuses on Jiangnan area and Very little study thecommercial town in the north. Through in-depth study of the Yanbei town developmentpath in the Qing Dynasty, the thesis tries to reveal the relationship among Yanbeipopulation, industry and town development through agglomeration theory, which notonly enriches the study of commercial town in the north of China, but also providesreferences for town development in China.Taking advantage of own strengths, Yanbei area becomes an important part of theJinmeng and Sino-Russian business. Because of population agglomeration, industrialagglomeration and urban agglomeration, Yanbei area shows prosperity in the QingDynasty. Firstly, this thesis gives a clear position of the study area and analyzes fromthe geographical location, history, climate, water and mineral resources and otheraspects, and obtains that the Yanbei town is located in Jinmeng and Sino-Russian borderand the climate is arid and has poor condition of agricultural development. But thesocial and cultural environment in Yanbei area helps the development of commercialtrade. Secondly, based on the theory of the agglomeration effect and the historical dataof Yanbei, the thesis discusses that the first important reason of the development ofYanbei town in the Qing Dynasty is the population agglomeration in the third chapter,and in the fourth chapter discusses the second factor is industrial agglomeration, and in the fifth chapter discusses urban agglomeration which caused by populationagglomeration and industrial agglomeration and the phenomenon of populationagglomeration, industrial agglomeration and urban agglomeration. Finally, according tothe theory of urban agglomeration and the example of agglomeration theory of Yanbeitown in the Qing Dynasty, the thesis puts forward policy recommendations for thedevelopment of modern Yanbei town.Through discuss of population agglomeration, industrial agglomeration and urbanagglomeration of Yanbei area in the Qing Dynasty, this thesis draws some importantsuggestions for Yanbei town and urban development. The thesis analyses withagglomeration theory, starts with the Yanbei town in the content which is less researchin academic circles. It enriches the study of Yanbei commercial town, Sino-Russianbusiness in the Qing Dynasty,"One Belt and One Road" and the research contents andperspective of commercial town, which makes the thesis realize innovation both incontent and theory.
