Research On China’s Agricultural Product Traceability System

With the development of our urbanization, people’s living standard has largely improved. The awareness of food security is constantly updated. With the breaking out of a series of food safety incidents at home and abroad, people make more intense on quality and safety of agricultural products. Agricultural products traceability system can record the information of product from production to processing, circulation and consumption. We can trace and analyze the information when encountered quality or safety problems to find sources of the problem and give timely measures to minimize damage. EU, Japan and other developed countries have advanced beef and mutton traceability system. China is now in the initial stage of establishing a traceability system. We have beef and vegetable traceability system in Beijing, Shanghai, Shandong and other places. There are many researches on the participation willingness and on costs and benefits but few studies on the evaluation system of traceability system.This thesis is on the background of China’s current agricultural traceability system and integrates the information economics theory and supply chain theory to develop a research on China’s agricultural traceability system. Methods used in this study are systems analysis, literature review and AHP. This thesis analyzed the impact of traceability system on agricultural modernization and established an evaluation system finally. It is a reference to establish our agricultural traceability system.There are six parts of this thesis:The first chapter contains background, purpose and significance of the research. Besides, the domestic and foreign academic researches on traceability system are also included. The second chapter focuses on the basic concepts and theories about agricultural products traceability system.The third chapter studies the history and current situation of China’s agricultural modernization and the influence of traceability system on agricultural modernization in many aspects.In the fourth chapter, we establish a two-tier evaluation system of China’s agricultural products traceability composed by 13 index, and use AHP method to determine the weight of each index.The fifth chapter puts forward the advice of establishing China’s agricultural products traceability system.The sixth chapter is about a summary of this thesis.
