With the development of social economy, the reform of water property system, and the maturity of joint reservoirs operation technology, economic activities, such as the restructuring of the reservoir assets, or the adjustment of reservoir property rights, are on the increase. As a result, the assets evaluation of reservoirs has been paid more and more attention. However, the current domestic and foreign studies on the assets evaluation of reservoirs are very few, so the research of methods and models of reservoirs’assets evaluation becomes urgent and significant. This paper is an exploratory research aiming at the assets evaluation of reservoirs, which combined with the basic theory and method of the assets evaluation. First of all, the contents of the reservoir assets evaluation were systematically researched based on the commenting of the research situation of assets evaluation methods in home and abroad. Secondly, an assets evaluation model of large and medium-sized reservoirs is established after doing an analysis on reservoir assets’characteristics and methods. In this model, the author uses the cost method in the monomial assets evaluation, and the improved benefit method which considered monetary social benefits in the whole assets evaluation. Finally, the model and the methods were used in a reservoir in Guangdong province, which is called reservoir A in this paper. The results shows that the total value of monomial assets evaluation which uses the resetting cost method can reflect the current value of the reservoir assets. And the improved benefit method has certain feasibility and got a reasonable assessment value at the same time, which could be in contrast with the result of the resetting cost method. All in all, the established model has an important theoretical and practical significance to the process of assets evaluation of reservoirs.
