Walnut is one of the important fruit tree species and oil resources in the world,which has much nutrition and is healthy to eat.Xinjiang is known as "fruit of the township".Walnut of Xinjiang has thin shell, aroma kernel, superior quality, which made reputation at home and abroad.Xinjiang has become one of the most important producing areas of China’s walnut production.Especially in the south areas where sunshine time is longer, larger temperature difference between day and night, less precipitation and growth of natural conditions are all conducive to the mature walnut and the suppression of plant diseases and insect pests.However,Xinjiang walnut’s rapid development at the same time also come with some problems. Therefore, this paper has collected a large number of literature, based on the main producing areas of Xinjiang walnut walnut industry development in the field of research, analyses the current situation of the development of walnut production in Xinjiang.Comparing Xinjiang walnut domestic advantage, this paper analyzes the existing problems in the development of walnut production in Xinjiang as well as the factors affecting Xinjiang walnut industry development. We put forward some suggestions to improve the competitiveness of Xinjiang walnut, which has certain practical significance.This paper is divided into seven chapters, the main research contents are as follows: the first chapter mainly elaborated the paper and selected topic background with the research significance, research content, and defines the research object; the second chapter mainly elaborates the related theories at home and abroad; the third chapter elaborates the development situation of walnut production in Xinjiang; the fourth chapter carries on the analysis of the advantages of Xinjiang walnut’s development of production; the fifth chapter researches on competitive disadvantage in Xinjiang walnut production development; the sixth chapter carries on the analysis to the factors affecting the competitiveness of Xinjiang walnut production development; the seventh chapter is the policy recommendations.Conclusions: comparing with the Xinjiang walnut production development and the main producing areas of the country, comparative advantages has shown as followed: first is the unique natural conditions of walnut cultivation advantages in Xinjiang, especially in terms of geographical location and climatic conditions; second, the Xinjiang walnut output is only less than that of Yunnan Province, ranking among the second in the country and sharing large scale of advantage;Third, main cultivated varieties of walnut "warm 185" of Xinjiang has superior quality; in addition, the country, the autonomous region and the city have issued many preferential policies to support the walnut industry development. Although the Xinjiang walnut has certain advantages in scale, quality and so on, but in the market is somehow not competitive.Reasons may be as follows: first, the Xinjiang walnut production cost is not reasonable, where material costs and labor costs are high,without cost advantage; second, the high cost of production in Xinjiang has been in a state of high price of Walnut in the domestic market, compressing Xinjiang walnut products and profit margins, so walnut has no price competitive in the domestic market; third,the processing enterprises of Xinjiang walnut technology and equipment configuration is low, simple and extensive, which makes walnut production is in primary processing,lacking deep processing products and processing capacity.The limited production, walnut products do not have a competitive advantage.Xinjiang walnut has the following problems and reasons in the production and development:(1) the low cultural level of farmers.(2) investment is unreasonable.(3) messy plantings.(4) professional cooperatives, slow development, small scale, weak strength.(5) the processing capacity of enterprises are weak in walnut.(6) the government only focused on increasing the scale, while ignoring the management.(7) the problem of publicity.Putting forward the following suggestions:(1) to strengthen the training of farmers to guide them.(2)to take scientific production management to improve the quality of walnut.(3) to optimize the development of professional cooperatives.(4) to carry the introduction of advanced technology and equipment, actively develop the deep processing of walnut.(5) to strengthen the construction of talent team to play talent protection.(6) to formulate the industrial policies, to provide protection for the industry development.(7) increase of the publications and advertisements of Xinjiang walnut.
