China is a large agricultural country which enjoys a history of five thousand years.The urban population in China has always been much lower than the rural population.After the establishment of New China, with the development of productivity and the expansion of economy, many large cities emerge, followed with an influx of agricultural population into the cities, which not only boosts a great increase of national productivity, but also promotes the level of urbanization of our country. Especially after reform and opening, as large amount of foreign investment has been introduced, many factories based on mainly labor intensive industries are set up in coastal area, which leads to the transfer of a great many surplus rural labor into the cities. These people soon take root in the cities, causing the swift increase of urban population. While the cities expand, the urban population booms ceaselessly, the urbanization rate increases, there comes the question of social equity, enlargement of the demands of the people and the environmental destruction。One of the major problem is that some system does not keep up with the current social development of the influx of rural migrant workers into the cities, which gives rise to the result that these migrants are not treated equally with urban dwellers.It is an unavoidable problem in the process of China’s urbanization how could rural migrants be transferred into citizen in proper and scientific means, and further more, how could cities provide them with sense of belonging and identity.Trough a review of the developing history of urbanization in our country as well as the lesson and experience of urbanization in western countries, this article is an exploration of a new way of urbanization with Chinese characteristics proceeding from China’s actual conditions.This article contains mainly five parts:First part: discuss in brief the relevant conceptions on research subject, illustrate research significance, difficulty and shortage of this articlePart two: sort in brief the process of urbanization in China since liberation, describe concisely the problem of current urbanization processPart three: summarize the transition of land, household registration and social security system in the urbanization process in ChinaPart four: overview the development and characters of urbanization in western countries and the enlightenment on construction of system of urbanization in China.Part five: through learning from experience in foreign countries and combining the current situations of urbanization in China, discuss constructively the reform of various systems of urbanization in China...
