With the increasingly fierce competition between enterprises, how to improve the competitiveness of enterprises, in an impregnable position has become the primary task of every enterprise’s leaders. We know the importance of employees’ performance for various enterprises clearly.So how to improve employees’ performance effectively and rapidly is the problem which the enterprise leaders must pay attention to. Studies have shown that the paternalistic leadership and employee silence had certain effect on employee performance.This study through the questionnaire survey to 280 enterprise employees made a further discussion and research on the concrete influence of paternalistic leadership and employee silence, which affect the employee performance. According to the statistics and analysis of the collected data, we verified the model of the hypothesis of this research, and draw the following conclusions:First, the employees with different gender have significant difference in the paternalistic leadership perception;Second, the paternalistic leadership has significantly negative influence on the employee silence, especially the benevolent and moral leadership. But authoritarian leadership has a significantly positive influence on the employee silence;Third, the paternalistic leadership positively influences the employee performance. The benevolent and moral leadership can positively predict the performance of employees and the authoritarian leadership can not;Fourth, the employee silence has significantly negative effect on the employee performance;Fifth, employee silence in the mediation role of relationship between paternalistic leadership and employee performance significantly, and render incomplete intermediary effect.According to the conclusion of this study, for the purpose of improving the performance of employees, this study on how to promote the formation of enterprise leaders’ paternalistic leadership style, and how to reduce the employee silence puts forward some suggestions and opinions. And finally we point out some defects existing in this study and the prospects for future research.
