Large-scale Activities Traffic Organization And Management Methods In Small And Medium-sized Cities

ABSTRACT:more and more large-scale activity are being held in China, especially in small and medium-sized cities, which has become a new tendency. However, the research of large-scale activities in China are mainly concentrated in big cities, such as Olympic Games in Beijing, World Expo in Shanghai and so on, while the research of large-scale activities for small and medium-sized cities are relatively limited.During the period of large-scale activities, the social traffic demand is highly concentrated, while the transportation infrastructure supply capacity is relatively limited and the network structure is relatively simiple. Large-scale activities don’t onlybringbenefit, but bringserious challenges to the traffic organizationand management for the small and medium-sized cities. The traffic congestion, disorder and other problems caused by large-scale activities in small and medium sized cities are becoming more and more serious, so the system research in traffic organization and management for large-scale activities in small and medium-sized cities has been important in theory and practise.The content of the paper include the theory system and application technology of traffic prediction methods, traffic management scheme, traffic evaluation system and case analysis forlarge-scale activitiestraffic organization management theory system and application technology in small and medium-sized cities.This paper presents the definition of the large-scale activity, and analyse the characteristics of the traffic demands, traffic flow, traffic management in the small and medium-sized cities, in order to discuss the large-scale activities traffic demand predictiontheories and methodsin small and medium-sized cities. Combined with the characteristics of large-scale activities in small and medium-sized cities, this paper also modified the method of the four stage traffic prediction to improve its accuracy. This paper also introduced the definition, principles and objectives of traffic management and organization strategy for large-scale activities. Then the paper put forward of an evaluation system for large-scale activities traffic management and organization strategy from macroscopic and microcosmic two aspects. Finally, the paper does a case study by Shouguang Vegetable Fair. It shows that new traffic organization strategymakes its traffic better than before by means of Transcad and Vissim to analyse.
