Research On Comprehensive Land Carrying Capacity In The Background Of New Pattern Urbanization, Hangzhou

The urbanization level in China has increased 30% in 30 years since reform and openness. The speed is higher than western developed countries when they stayed at same period. The "time compression effect" because of fast development leads to urban diseases breaking out in different cities. While urban people increase substantially at the cost of consumption of resource and environment. But land carrying capacity is limited. Once the development of economy and society exceeds the limitation of land carrying capacity, unsustainable utilization of land will occur and environment will be destroyed. So evaluation of urban land carrying capacity and focusing on the amount of urban people is overloaded or not is very important to sustainability development of district economy. The research keeps to the point of new pattern urbanization and pays attention to people oriented, emphasizing low carbon and ecologic civilization. It’ll make a big significance on promoting sustainable development during the construction of new pattern urbanization.The paper reviews related theory and research method about carrying capacity in the world and then sets Hangzhou city as my research district. The land of Hangzhou is divided into three subspace of agriculture subspace, construction subspace and ecology subspace. A system of indicators is built by characteristics of each subspaces. Then each subspace is divided into 5 grades from high to low and people carried by each subspace can be calculated. In the end the method of weighted sum is used to calculate the amount of people referring to ecological footprint and the land carrying capacity of Hangzhou can be got.The result shows that people of Hangzhou hasn’t overloaded. Construction land undertakes most people and more than the limitation while agriculture land and ecology land have appeared overload situation in view of 3 subspaces. The development of Hangzhou has performed as characteristic of unsustainability and environment has been overdrew. So it’s important to convert the way of development of Hangzhou and increase the urban carrying capacity.The research also raises up some suggestions about improving the comprehensive land carrying capacity of Hangzhou. For example increasing economy development, adjusting industrial structure, building ecological city, improving people quality and utilization efficiency of land, protecting agricultural land and protecting environment and so on. Nothing can be done to improve land carrying capacity of Hangzhou and face to the increase of people and keep the sustainable development of society but adopt policy measure.
