In recent years, with the rapid development of economic and technology, human society faces a series of problems about carrying capacity. How to make the limited resources meet to human rapid development is becoming a unavoidable problem, that’s why people gradually recognize the importance of the carrying capacity. The carrying capacity is a vital indicator to measure the level of the sustainable capacity in a country or region. As a system, the social carrying capacity has a extent, if the extent is exceeded there will be a series of social problems which affects human life. But as more and more fast the rate of urbanization is, based on the background, the article will discuss the social carrying capacity taking the small west towns as examples.The article introduces the research background, objects, related concepts and literature reviews from china and other countries in the first two chapters, In the third chapter, it introduces the theories and methods about the social carrying capacity, gives concept、deep meaning、feature、 influent indicator and theoretical foundation in details, moreover, it uses the system dynamics method to study the social carrying capacity. In chapter four, the paper builds up an index system of the social carrying capacity. In chapter five and chapter six, it chooses two cases, takes the quantitative indicators, build a model about the systematic dynamic social carrying capacity by software, design two methods to study the Bikou town and Qingxi town, analyze and compare the result of the two ones, come out the solution to improve the social carrying capacity. In the end, the article makes a summary of the full text and points out the problems and the improvements needed in the future.
