As global economic and regional economic integration deepens, international communication in some areas is becoming more closely such as trade, goods, capital etc, which can be regraded as an effective way of promoting the development of international trade in the new era of trading conditions between states. Port as a channel of international business has become a critical link in logistics supply chain and international transportation network. Such a new condition represents a substantial shift in social economic development. Based on the rapid growth of domestic demand and foreign trade, coastal ports has taken leaps and bounds by seizing this historic opportunities. However, imbalanced development in coastal port logistics has hindered port growth towards coordinated and sustainable. Therefore, according to the relevant theory and a large number of latest statistics, the paper selects 21 above-scale ports as the research subject,and analyses the development level and disparities of port logistics in China coastal area by applying qualitative and quantitative methods. Hoping that a deep understanding of regional disparities can provide decision-making reference in promoting the coordinated development of port logistics.First of all, under the guidance of the index selection principles, the paper construct the evaluation indicator system and calculate the comprehensive development level of above-scale China coastal port logistics by Principal Component Analysis method from 2003-2013. And then, the thesis analyses the port logistics regional disparities with two perspectives by using standard deviation, mean difference, variation coefficients, gene coefficient, theil index and more absolute index and relative index from 2003-2013 years. According to the decomposition characteristics of theil index, the overall differences is equal to differences within the region and differences between regions. Finally, based on the above research results and relative theory, the paper analyses the factors theoretically that contribute to the regional disparities from inter-regional factor endowment, industrial structure and cluster, urbanization and marketing level four aspects. And the study put forward the countermeasures to reduce the regional differences of port logistics.The research results indicates that:From the space distribution, the conclusion can be concluded that the development of port logistics in the Bohai Bay Rim, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta have a higher development levels, and Southeast Coast,Southwest Coast’s port logistics have a relatively low development level. Because of the unbalanced port logistics development level, which causes huge development disparities between coastal port clusters; Most of time, the mean difference and variation of development level of port logistics are showing a rising trends, the change trends of variation coefficients and gene coefficient are consistent and the disparities is diminishing on the whole; According to the measure result of theil index, the development disparities of port logistics in China coastal area shows the "expand-reduce" trends and differences within the region is the major component part of the overall difference. From the five coastal port clusters’ perspective, the disparities between each post clusters is huge, and the regional disparities in those economically developed area is much higher.
