It is necessary that an enterprise should have a stable talent team by employee training and development as a support for the implement of sustainable development strategies. As the domestic biggest copper processing company and one of the top 500 Chinese companies, J Copper Company has tried a series of innovation and practice in talent retention management since 2006 to realize the transformation of the core of development strategy from "big" to "strong" and achieved the strategic goal of "be both big and strong, and own strong ability for continuous development". As a result, a talent retention mechanism that fits company strategy has gradually formed, which make the amount, structure and quality of talents adapt to the needs of the development of the company and reduce the brain drain and talent shortage.Based on J Copper Company’transition development strategy, the paper studies on the practice of training and development in J Copper Company. The contents of the study are as follows:First at all, the paper discusses the concepts and theories of training and development. Second, the paper introduces development processes of J Copper Company, the transition development strategy, organizational structure and strategic human resource plan as well as employee structure of J Copper Company. Then, the paper analyzes the practices of training, mentoring, career planning, internal multi-path promotion in J Copper Company. Based on the above discussion and analysis, the paper further analyzes the effectiveness of the training and development in J Copper Company, and proposes suggestions on the training and development improvement in terms of the shortcomings existed in J Copper Company. Finally, the paper makes conclusions and new perspectives on J Copper Company’s training and development.According to the study on the transition development-strategy-based training and development, on the one hand, the study have benefits on te improvement of the training and development practices in J Copper Company in order to further sustainable development of J Copper Company. On the other hand, the study provides valuable references for the other companies which is in the same or similar industry with J Copper Company...
