The Impact Of Technological Diversification On Corporate Performance

Along with the continuous renewal of scientific and technological knowledge as well as product complexity, more and more researchers have found that corporations urgently need to integrate multi-disciplinary knowledge and technology in the product research and development, enterprise which have a single technical ability are often difficult to adapt to the needs of the development trend, and seek solutions. Some scholars believe that corporations with more technologies can absorb and make use of more new technologies and knowledge, have the capacity of external technology recognition and competitive advantage generally.Based on the theory of dynamic capabilities, to build a basic theory model which is about the influence between technological diversification and corporate performance with previous scholars’ findings. By distinguishing the relationship between new accessed technologies and existing technologies in the process of technological diversification, this paper argues that technological diversification include technological exploration and technological excavating. Combined with the characteristics of high-tech corporations, this paper is dedicated to explore the related issues of enterprise technological diversification, analyze the specific relations among technological diversification, absorptive capacity and corporate performance as well as the mechanism between technological diversification and corporate performance, put forward corresponding research hypothesis.This paper selects high-tech corporate as the research objectives to do the empirical research. The results show that both technological diversification and knowledge absorptive have a positive effect on corporate performance,but technological exploration and knowledge digestion ability have no significant positive impact on innovation performance. In addition,knowledge absorptive capacity has played a partially meditative role in the impact of corporate technology diversification on corporate performance.In short, the related theories of technological diversification are supplemented by the theory and empirical research to a certain extent in this paper, provide new perspectives and ideas for expanding technical ability and promoting technological diversification so as to improve corporate performance and obtain sustainable competitive advantage.
