Research On The Relationship Between Social Capital And Technological Innovation Performance Of High - Tech Enterprises - Taking Knowledge Absorptive Capacity As Mediator Variable

With the deepening development of economic globalization, enterprises need to keep continuous technological innovation in order to maintain their competitive advantages in the fierce competition. Under this circumstance, the competitive advantages of an enterprise stem not only from resources it possesses, but also those kind of resources and abilities which exist in the social network and are quite hard to be seized and simulated by its competitors.Based on some literatures, this thesis analyzes further the concept and connotation of corporate social capital in high-tech corporates, dividing corporate social capital into structural social capital, relationship-type social capital and cognitive social capital. Meanwhile, from the perspective of the process of technological innovation, this thesis also defines technological innovation performance as performance at the stage of R&D, performance at the stage of application and performance at the stage of marketing. This thesis discusses in two aspects. First, the relationship between dimensions of high-tech corporates’social capital and that of technological innovation. Second, by introducing the concept of knowledge absorption capacity, this thesis aims to verify the intermediary effect that knowledge absorption capacity imposes on the relationship between the social capital in a high-tech corporate and its technological innovation performance. And this thesis has found that there is a positive correlation relationship between knowledge absorption capacity and relationship-type social capital and cognitive social capital in an enterprise. On the contrary, knowledge absorption capacity and structural social capital are not relevant. In a word, however, knowledge absorption capacity exerts positive effects on all dimensions of the technological innovation performance of an enterprise.On this basis, this thesis has built a conceptual model, in which technological innovation performance is under the positive influence that is imposed on knowledge absorption capacity by corporate social capital. And the intermediary effect of knowledge absorption capacity has been confirmed. All in all, this thesis has put forward pertinent advices for high-tech corporates enhancing their technological innovation performance, and at the same time, achieved the aim of improving the present situation and performance of technological innovation.
