There is great service function value in agriculture, which forms the foundation of existence and development of human society. What’s more, water and land resources constitute the security of agricultural development. However, many ecological problems never seen before appeared in the countryside of HeBei Province, such as groundwater pollution, groundwater depression, the shortage of groundwater resources, shrinkage of cultivated land, the decline of the soil fertility, and so on. Therefore, it’s urgent for scientific community and government to take effective measures to realize the agricultural sustainable development.Based on the statistic data and input-output table, this paper evaluates the agriculture sustainability of HeBei province from two aspects:irrigation benefit and carbon footprint. The article first analyzes the spatial-temporal change and the influence factors of the share coefficient of irrigation benefit based on province, then a hybrid economic input-output and life cycle assessment(EIO-LCA) model is developed to investigate the carbon footprint and its structure of the agriculture in HeBei Province. The compositions of emission sources, spatial-temporal characteristics and carbon emission factors of three types based on EGLS estimation were examined. This paper uses input-output models to analyze the carbon footprint of agriculture and associated industries, which also discusses the carbon relation among each sector. The main conclusions are as following:(1) The mean annual sharing coefficient of irrigation benefit has an overall decreasing trend from 2001 to 2012. However, irrigation benefit shows increase tendency in fluctuation, which suggests it achieves good effect of water saving and increasing yield to select water-saving crops and improve irrigation. In view of spatial hierarchy, the share coefficient of irrigation benefit in southeastern plains is much higher than that in the northwest mountain area. In addition, this paper also finds that the influence of irrigation and precipitation to the coefficient are significant, and some factors have negative correlation with the coefficient in Hebei.(2) The carbon emissions of diesel combustion and chemicals account the two large proportions of the total carbon footprint of agriculture in HeBei Province, and the latter accounts a small one than the former, which also indicates that the carbon emission of diesel combustion has a rising trend with fluctuations. Among the 11 prefecture-level cities, Average net carbon footprint and annual growth in Tangshan are both highest, andZhangjiakou are lowest. Tangshan’s carbon footprint per unit crop sown area is also the largest, however, the carbon footprint per unit agriculture added value in Cangzhou is the largest, which the result shows that Tangshan has the highest carbon efficiency. In addition,Energy intensity has positive correlation to the carbon footprint per unit crop sown area, while the level of investment is not.(3) Among the whole agribusiness departments, fertilizer manufacturing has the largest proportion of carbon footprint, which is followed by agriculture. Agriculture product and food handling industry, animal husbandry, the rest of the second industry and textile industry greatly promote the increase of carbon emission footprint of agriculture, while agriculture also influences the rest of second industry and fertilizer manufacturing.Fertilizer and pesticide manufacturing show greater influence and induction to other industries.
