Subjective well-being has been one of the hot issues in the domestic and foreign scholars’ study. Whether it is philosophy, psychology, sociology, economics, more subjects are involved in and explore the subjective well-being. With the continuous exploration of these disciplines, the study of subjective well being is more and more abundant, but the existing research is also insufficient, there are many space to further explore. Rural elderly is a concern of the group, as they grow older and Self-support capabilities of weakened, they are more sensitive to the protection of the outside world. Therefore, from the perspective of social security, this article studies subjective well-being of rural elderly through the questionnaire survey and interview method. From a theoretical perspective, this is conducive to make up for the lack of existing subjective well-being research. From a practical point of view, this is not only conducive to the country, the society to ease some of the problems of aging, but also conducive to the rural elderly live a happier life.Firstly, based on the current situation of aging in china, and subjective well-being is more and more become the focus and hot spot of background, this paper proposed the direction of the study, puts forward the problems for study. And this paper summarizes the subjective well-being.Secondly, according to the research direction and the literature data, this paper constructs the theoretical model, and compiles the questionnaire. Finally, through the analysis of the data from the field survey, the current problems are found, and the relevant policy recommendations are put forward.The research findings: 1.Subjective well-being of rural elderly is in the upper level, 15.6% of the rural elderly feel happier, 43.5 % of rural elderly feel happy, and 28.9 % of rural elderly feel that they are in general, but there are 8% of the rural elderly feel less happy, 4% of rural elderly feel they are not happy. 2.Through the regression analysis, it was found that whether or not to enjoy the old-age insurance, medical insurance is significant for the rural elderly people’s subjective well-being. And found that the elderly with higher satisfaction of social security are more likely to have higher subjective well-being.3.The individual characteristics of rural elderly have different influence on the subjective well being of the rural elderly people. The influence of age, occupation, and the main source of the economy on the subjective well-being of the rural elderly is not significant. Gender, education level, living way has an impact on thesubjective well-being of the rural elderly. Personal status and family status affect the subjective well-being of the rural elderly significantly.According to the findings of this paper, this paper puts forward the following suggestions: 1. To improve the social security, especially the medical security, in order to make up for the decline of the rural elderly people’s self support function. 2. To further create a beautiful country, optimize the natural ecological environment and public infrastructure in rural areas.3. Consolidate and develop the role of family security in rural elderly people’s subjective well-being, and to carry forward the humanistic care.
