Company M is an electronic manufacturing company integrated with product development, production and sales sections. Its key products include interconnection modules for tele-communication devices and antenna devices for mobile products. Because of fierce rivalries and poor New Product Introduction (NPI) project management recently, operation performance for antenna business unit is declined continuously. It is urgent to dig out reasons and solutions to improve this company’s capabilities and competitiveness. There is a detailed description for Theory of Constraints (TOC) and its application approach in Project Management (PM), Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) in this article. Two key problems, NPI’s development schedule can’t meet customers’ expection and resource constrains, have been identified. Critical Chain Method (CCM) has been introduced to shorten project schedule while optimize the utilization for resource constrains. The effect and feasibility for CCM has been proven according to the result compared with original ones. Two methods, task duration estimation has been modified from 90% possibility to 50% and project buffer management method, are key fectors to reduce project schedule. We can get benefit from this approach for further similar projects.
