An Study Of Intra-industry Trade In Service Between China And The United States

In recent years, more and more international trade take place in service industry, service is being favoured by most countries since its higher added value, lower environment pollution and help with more employment, service trade has became a new motive for countries to promote economic development, nowadays, goods trade in China growth slowly while service trade rise fast, service development do more and more contribution to improving Chinese economy. Intra-trade has increased fast since it started in 20C 60S, as the main trade form of today’s international trade, it has grate significance to measure a country’s position in the international division and level of industrial structure. China is the largest developing country and the USA is the largest developed country in the world, they are also important trade partners to each other, carrying out service trade between China and the USA have important significance and be helpful for relieving the imbalance in goods trade, for reducing the friction in sino-us trade, for improving relations between China and the USA. At the same time, it has more benefits for China, for example, it will enable China to better measure its position in the international service division and adjust its industrial structure.This paper consists of six parts. First, reviewing the existing research about the service intra-industry trade and the service trade between China and the USA,at the same time, introducing the theory of intra-industry trade;On basis of that, the third chapter mainly discusses the service trade structure of China and the USA. According to the static analysis, both for import and export, China’s service trade are mainly take place in traditional industry; By contrast, American service trade are more balance in aspect of industry structure. According to analysis, the export structure in service trade is more stable than that in China; According to the China’s export Lawrence index, China’s export structure fluctuate in transportion and travel industry is more remarkable than that in mordern service industry, such as finance and insurance; In the fourth chapter, there is a analysis on the sino-us intra-industry service trade development by static intra-industry index, dynamic intra-industry index and classific intra-industry index respectively. And the result from static index and dynamic index are coherent:service trade between China and the USA is intra-industry trade in gengral, intra-industry level in transportion and travel is higher than that in modern service industry; Finance, insource and intellectural industry are mainly show as inter-industry trade. At the same time, this paper combine the theoretical analysis and the empirical analysis, demonstrate the affective factors to sino-us intra-industry service trade by establishing the economitric model in the fifth chapter, as a result, difference of per GDP, the degree of opening to the world and goods trade intensity are all have positive influence on sino-us intra-industry service trade. Finally this paper put forward several policy suggestions according to the analysis and demonstration.
