Research On Feasibility Of Characteristic Agricultural Product Price Index Insurance

In recent years, limited by the low degree of protection, high operation cost and other disadvantages such as sophisticated acceptance and settlement of claims, agriculture insurance has been under slow development。However, with the development of economy and society, some innovated agricultural insurance products represented by agricultural product price index insurance have appeared in the market one after another。It is believed that these products, with strong pertinence, have the potential to develop, though they are still in the smaller scale。 In the other side, practice of developed countries has proved that the development of relative price index insurance meets the requirement of modern agriculture since it can protect the benefit of planters and culturists。Relative departments of our country are discussing the possibility of regulating and controlling agricultural prices by price index insurance。Some trial has been launched in cities and provinces such as Beijing, Shanghai, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shandong in development of price index insurance of pigs, vegetable and beef。This paper analyzes main elements such as production, market and management risks, initiating the fluctuations of agricultural product prices, and further suggests the necessity and feasibility of the development of agricultural price index insurance。At the meantime, on the basis of the analysis of some newly emerging agricultural price products index insurance, such as vegetable price index insurance, pig price index insurance, milk price index insurance and drawing lessons from foreign experience, suggestion has been made about how to keep sustained development of agricultural price index insurance: firstly, the scientific design of insurance products; secondly, the cultivation of professional talents; thirdly, more support from the government; last of all, the improving of development system。...
