The Research On Logistics Industry Input-Output Efficiency Of Jiangsu Province Based On DEA Model

Jiangsu province is one of the economically developed provinces in China, and its comprehensive strengths have always been forefront. Under the rapid development of logistics industry nationwide, logistics industry of Jiangsu Province also gains improvement. As the status and role of logistics industry in the national economy continues to increase, logistics has become an important index to measure the regional economic development. However, the logistics industry of Jiangsu Province keeps a relatively high operation cost and a relatively low operation efficiency, which limits the development of logistics industry in Jiangsu Province seriously. Therefore, it is of great significance to conduct research on logistics industry input-output efficiency of Jiangsu Province.In the first chapter, it analyzes the background and significance of the research, and summarizes the research status both domestic and overseas. Then it determines the research directions, contents and methods according to the targeted questions. Finally, it presents the possible innovations and deficiencies.In the second chapter, it summarizes the concepts of logistics, logistics industry, efficiency, efficiency of the logistics industry, etc. In the meantime, it introduces the theories related to data envelopment analysis, which includes CCR model and BCC model required in the research. Furthermore, it compares the data envelopment analysis with other methods that used for evaluating and analyzing logistics efficiency, and apparently it draws the conclusion that the data envelopment analysis is equipped with advantages in studying logistics input-output efficiency of Jiangsu Province, which acts as the cornerstone of theories for the later empirical study.The third chapter mainly analyzes the current status of logistics development in Jiangsu Province from such three aspects as development achievements, problems and opportunities, which lays solid reality foundation for further research.The forth chapter appears to be the empirical research of all. At first, it introduces the selected model and data sources of sample, and it constructs appropriate evaluation index system based on its selective principles. On the basis of descriptive statistical analysis of input-output index data, it collects and organizes data by referring to the professional software DEAP2.1. Then it compares the logistics input-output efficiency in Jiangsu Province with 30 other provinces nationwide, particularly, it analyzes the logistics input-output efficiency of 13 cities in Jiangsu Province, which mainly measures comprehensive efficiency, pure technical efficiency, scale efficiency and scale return, and it calculates the 9 year averages from 2004 to 2012. By these averages, it ranks the 13 cities of Jiangsu Province and 31 provinces of China, and finally, it summarizes and analyzes the evaluation results.The fifth chapter proposes the countermeasures and suggestions for logistics development in Jiangsu Province, which are based on the comparative analysis of logistics input-output efficiency in Jiangsu Province and 30 other provinces, and the specific analysis of logistics input-output efficiency of 13 cities in Jiangsu Province.
