Since national reform and open up started in our country in 1978, domestic automobile industry welcomes a speed development, coming with which is fierce competition among automobile enterprises. Although automobile industry indicates a good develop trend, there is still room for automobile manufacturer to make improvement in supplier performance evaluation. Relay on its own strength, it is difficult for automobile industry to remain dominate position in long-term competition. Martin Christopher, a famous supply chain management expert once said, instead of enterprises, market is composed of supply chains, real competitions are among different supply chains rather than enterprises. Therefore, effective management against supply chain has a significant influence on healthy development of automobile industry. Served as the very beginning of a supply chain, suppliers surely play an important role. Choosing suppliers rationally and evaluating supplier performance objectively directly impact on the ability of automobile industry to take its full competitive advantages. However, present researches about supplier performance evaluation of automobile manufacturer are mainly focus on elaborating supplier performance evaluation theories or discussing principles that should be in line with while establishing supplier performance evaluation system. In comparison, researches about performance criteria or methods selection are relatively limited. From this starting point, this paper firstly makes a summarization about theory of supplier management, supplier classification as well as supplier performance evaluation. Then, experts’ opinions are gathered together via questionnaires, combined with related theories and principles that should be followed during establishing performance evaluation system, a relatively thorough supplier performance evaluation criteria system is created(includes 8 criteria and 33 subcriteria), and each criteria with its sub-criteria are discussed in detail. Based on the illustration of different evaluation methods, proper ones are chosen according to their characteristics. After comprehensive analysis, methods of analytic network process and grey relational analysis are employed to conduct supplier performance evaluation. Excessive subjectivity are avoided by analytic network analysis when it comes to calculation of evaluation criteria weight, followed by using of grey relational analysis, incomplete information that occurs during supplier performance evaluation can be dealt with and final performance result can be gained. Finally, a case study is shown to prove the effectiveness of supplier performance evaluation criteria system and supplier evaluation methods, which provides a theoretical basis for domestic automobile manufacturer to perform a better supplier performance management.
