The global value chain modularizes sorts of production sections and distributes them around the world, which provides opportunities for countries with different technical levels and factor endowments to join into the process of globalization and improve the quality of their own industries. Thanks to the technology transformation and the enhancing of R&D strength, China’s equipment manufacturing, acted as fundamental and strategic industry in economy and defense, has achieved process upgrading and product upgrading, which benefits its efficiency and products in a large degree. However, there are some growing issues in China’s equipment manufacturing enterprises, such as lacking of core technology, poor market competitiveness and largely involving in the low and middle-end production. And the crux of issues above lies in the weakness of technology innovation.Based on the reality of China’s equipment manufacturing in GVC, it has been analyzed in this thesis that how GVC influences technology innovation behaviors of equipment manufacturing enterprises, which is spread from four aspects, namely embedment degree, market power, association capability and absorption capability. Meanwhile, indicators have been established to describe the factors above. They are GVC upgrading index, Lerner index, FDI proportion, R&D intensity and R&D personnel. Empirical model has been used to test the marginal effect which the GVC brings to native enterprises. The results show that market power plays the biggest role in stimulating native enterprises’ innovation behaviors; association capability comes the second; embedment degree takes the third place and the last is absorption capability.Considering both theoretical and empirical analysis, proposals which come from the embedment degree, market power, association capability and absorption capability have been offered at the end of this thesis in order to arouse innovations in equipment manufacturing. First and foremost, it is needed that the government uses advantages to establish national value chain, improve institutional arrangements and eradicate institutional barriers. Secondly, domestic enterprises should take the opportunity of coalescence between the Internet and manufacturing to learn to connect and harmonize each other so that they can get more information and resource in R&D. At the same time, special attention could be paid to ODI, which will bring lots of benefits in enterprise linkage, technology spillover, information spillover and talents spillover. Last but not least, given that capital investment is prerequisite in technology innovation, expanding financing channels, innovating financial instruments are an effective way to get continuous R&D funds.
