With the rapid development of urbanization in China, the construction industry is rapidly rising and developing into a pillar industry of national economy. At the same time, expanding the scale of the construction industry, project manager, is also getting higher and higher requirements to the project manager, but project manager in terms of quantity or quality of supply could not keep up with the market demand, such as in new business development can not be timely to add new project manager, manager or project there are incompetent for the situation. At this time the construction industry is facing the most pressing problem is that the quality of the project manager to do the job? Therefore, it is very necessary to select and train the project manager of the company by establishing the competency model of the project manager. In view of the above problems, this paper selects the Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group the Fifth Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to SJWJ) as the research object, try for the construction project manager competency quality model and the application of this model in Shaanxi five companies of project manager selection, performance appraisal, training and other human resource management, selection, training excellent project manager to ensure the completion of the project of high efficiency and high quality.At first, the paper analyzed the Shaanxi the quantity and quality of the five construction company project manager and the project manager the current situation; according to Shaanxi Wujian company project manager working in the face of difficulties, combined with existing research results, using behavioral event interview method and questionnaire method. After finishing the interview and the survey of questionnaire results are data dependence analysis, reliability and validity and factor analysis, extract the company outstanding project manager’s competency quality characteristics, suitable for the construction of the company’s project manager competency model. Finally, with the variation coefficient method to calculate the weights of the quality indexes, and the establishment of model and Shaanxi Wujian project manager selection, performance management, training etc. personnel activities combined. This study aimed at by constructing Shaanxi Wujian company project manager competency quality model and improve the problems existing in the management of project manager, project management norms, continue to stimulate their motivation to work, and strive to do construction safety management in place.
