The most fundamental and crucial power for the success of enterprise is human's power or more exactly the power of enterprise top managers. Top managers as the core of enterprise human capital would make a big difference to management efficiency. Increasingly, enterprises have been explicitly realized that reinforcing enterprise top managers management, sufficiently exploring their potential and comprehensively improving their competency is a significant measure by which they could actively handle a serious of challenges brought by the economy globalization and technology revolutions and a new power pushing enterprises and the sustainable development of economy society. Enterprise is supposed to be able to make selection of suitable competency assessment method for top managers and reasonably and pertinently applies it to the actual HR management work-selection, training, performance management, pay motivation, career plan and so on.Based on the current theoretical foundation of competency assessment research and firmly concentrated on the assessment object, enterprise top managers, this paper comprehensively presents the selection and application of competency assessment method. By defining such concepts as top managers, competency and competency model, this paper established the competency model, critical assessment elements and criteria system as well as assessment standard for enterprise top managers.It places emphasis on researching how to select competency assessment method and apply it according to competency model and assessment purpose. By constructing mathematic model, handle the assessment results referenced assessment criteria and integrate them into respective HR management job against enterprise top managers. Finally, this paper by making use of the previous research analyzed and examined a case for the top managers of a certain enterprise.This paper in depth analyzed selection measures and applications against the competency assessment method for enterprise top managers.It built a competency assessment method selection model and a competency assessment handling model which provide actual enterprise HR management with references.
