As China’s economy increases, the growing electricity assumption has led to a series of energy and environment problems. The traditional method to meet peak load by just enlarging energy capacity will cause a great waste of resources, and increase the total cost of the society. To solve the problem, the Demand Response (DR) technologies have emerged by utilizing the users’ability to regulate the load, which can meet the peak load without constructing more generators. With the reforming of the power system market and the developing technologies in communication, the study of DR is arousing wide concern, for this technology will play an important role in keeping the stability of power system, improving resources utilization, and reducing total cost of society. This paper studied the principles of DR, elaborated the mechanisms of DR, and introduced the main types and signals of DR. To study the combination of DRs, this paper selected Time of Use (TOU), Directed Load Control (DLC) and Interruptible Load (IL) for modeling analysis, using actual operating data for simulation. Firstly, it analyzed the division of TOU periods by fuzzy clustering the daily loads in the past year, getting reasonable division of the peak, flat and valley period. Then it modeled the DLC and IL, and studied the operation mechanism in the choosing case. Finally, it combined the studied DRs, simulated them in the choosing case, analyzed their function on the operating cost and the load curve, and compared the combination means to get the best one.
