In recent years, with the increasing appealing for environmental protection and from citizens of many countries with awareness of saving resource, governments of many countries have actively take initiatives and measures to promote the cause of environmental protection, green environment and sustainable development. Traditional purchasing mode is far behind the social demands, especially for the multinationals who have needs for a great diversity of products from a big amount of suppliers, hence the urgent need for green purchasing. The core of a green purchasing process lies in the selecting of a qualified green supplier, which is an important and indispensable part of the supply chain competition. The first unavoidable problem facing every company is selecting a matching green supplier from the crowd of suppliers.Firstly, in this thesis, researches both home and abroad on the green purchasing have been summarized and the theories on green purchasing and green suppliers have been concluded with the vital theories extracted.Secondly, on the basis of research papers both home and abroad on green purchasing as well as researches on sustainable development, the thesis conducted a research on the selecting of supplier for a multinational based on its traditional evaluating criteria for suppliers and that for sustainable development.Thirdly, by comparing the situations before and after the adoption of evaluating criteria for green supplier selecting, a feasible solution to the business process planning of the multinational can be found, hence a good example of green supplier selecting for companies within the same industry.Finally, the thesis proposed to similar corporations some suggestions in green purchasing, enhanced their awareness of environmental protection and communicated the corporations with external groups.
