Study On The Influence Factors Of Commercial Health Insurance Purchased By College Students

Along with the constant deepening reform of education system in our country, the modern university system is gradually established. The population of university students is increasing. The number of junior college students, undergraduates and postgraduates in our country reached 27.325 million in 2014. This ratio is about 2%. However, college students are faced with increasing academic pressure and employment pressure. The risks which college students face have characteristics of diversity and complexity. We need to establish and perfect the security system for college students, including the health insurance system for college students. The earliest health insurance system for college students in China is free medical care system which is originated in the 1950 s. However, along with the transition of economic system and the reform of education system in our country, the disadvantages of free medical care system are highlighted. So many universities have carried on the reform and exploration for health security system of college students. In 2008, the general office of the state council promulgated "The guidance about college students should be brought into the pilot scope of basic medical insurance for urban residents", in which is confirmed college students should be brought into the pilot scope of basic medical insurance for urban residents. In order to meet the higher demand of college students’ medical services, the health insurance for college students should be one kind social health insurance as foundation and commercial health insurance as supplement. They should combine with each other and coordinated development.Firstly, this paper introduces the connotation and development of commercial health insurance for college students. Also introduces the situation and existing problems of commercial health insurance for college students. Secondly, this paper analyzes mainly the factors which influence to buy commercial health insurance of college students. These factors include consumer demographics, economic factors, social factors, institutional and policy factors, the factors of commercial health insurance supply. On the basis of theoretical analysis and the questionnaire about health insurance status of Shantou city’ college students, the paper has carried on the empirical analysis by using the path analysis model. Survey results indicate that the demand of health insurance, profession and satisfaction of social health insurance have a direct impact on demand of commercial health insurance for college students. Profession and the demands of health insurance have a positive relationship with the demand of commercial health insurance for college students. And the satisfaction of social health insurance has a negative correlation. Registered permanent residence, culture degree, income, gender and health have an indirect influence with the demand of commercial health insurance for college students. Only health factor have a negative relationship with the demand of commercial health insurance for college students. And the other factors have a positive correlation. Finally, this article puts forward specific policies and suggestions about commercial health insurance for college students from the viewpoints of the government, universities and insurance companies.
