Research On Knowledge Heterogeneity How To Influence Knowledge Alliance’s Innovation

The Fifth Plenum of the 18 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China emphasizes that in order to achieve the goal of 13 th Five-Year Plan(2016-2020), we must set up and implement five ideas: innovative, coordinated, green, open, and shared by all. And "innovation" are placed in the most central location, becoming the first of the five ideas. The 18 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China also clearly put forward strategy of innovation- driven development. Innovation’s essence is the innovation of knowledge.With the rapid development of global information and networking. Individual organizational knowledge innovation, especially the major innovation, is becoming more and more difficult because of their resources limitation and the uncertainty of the external environment. Therefore, more and more organizations tend to cooperate with each other to form a knowledge alliance. The increase of the members will inevitably lead to the increase of the knowledge heterogeneity of the alliance. Alliance gradually form the division of knowledge in the process of innovation because of their limitation of energy and memory. They can only master a part of knowledge instead of all. The traditional division of knowledge has some disadvantages, such as high cost of management coordination, single division project, strong dependence on complementary organization. So, more and more organizations prefer to choose the modular division of knowledge. It’s more flexible, management model is more simple, more able to satisfy the needs of the market diversification. Research on knowledge heterogeneity how to influence knowledge alliance’s innovation based on modular division of knowledge can helps to enrich and perfect the theory of innovation, and provide guidance for practice.Knowledge heterogeneity is divided into three dimensions based on the relationship of knowledge structure, which are the complementarity of knowledge, the substitution of knowledge and none relativity. Research on how knowledge heterogeneity affects the modular knowledge innovation from the degree of difference abundance both the complementarity of knowledge and substitution of knowledge and degree of complementarity or substitution. Then research on how knowledge heterogeneity influent the modular knowledge division, how modular knowledge division promote or hinder the innovation performance of knowledge alliance, including the cost of knowledge innovation, the speed of knowledge innovation, the opportunity of knowledge innovation, the quality of knowledge innovation and the risk of knowledge innovation.According to the influence mechanism of knowledge heterogeneity how to influence knowledge alliance’s innovation, four measures are proposed. They are establishing a reasonable modular operation mechanism, establishing the protection mechanism of intellectual property, establishing a reasonable supervision and management mechanism, establishing a complete risk prevention management system. It can strengthen the positive influence and weaken the negative influence or transform the negative influence to the positive influence.
