An Empirical Study Of Patent Information Application Status Of Small And Medium Enterprises Of Guangdong Province

Patent information mainly refers to information concerning about technology, legislation, economy and strategy. In daily operation of an enterprise, especially in the process of developing new technologies, applying for and protecting patents, the use of patent information is of essence. In current days, it is common that small and medium enterprises of our country are lack of core technologies. This can be proved by the passive roles of Chinese enterprises on coping with international intellectual property disputes. Among the resources of all kinds of intellectual property information, patent information is comparatively the basic and strategic one. Therefore, in order to catch the trends of technological developments and enhance the competiveness, it is necessary for the enterprises to strengthen their services on research and use of patent information. Enhancing such services also contributes to the construction of an innovative country. Through adopting questionnaire methods, this article has found that small and medium enterprises in Guangdong province have not realized the importance of patent information and such enterprises are in an early stage working on intellectual property. They highly require professional and high-quality services on offering patent information. However, it is difficult and expensive for these enterprises to acquire such services in current stage. It is suggested that a specific regulation needs to be enacted in Guangdong province. The regulation aims at promoting basic services on using patent information, building up talents people on exploiting patent information, making patents data public, constructing public internet platform, advertising and sharing scientific and economic resources, regulating services concerning about patent information, integrating services of patent information and industry innovation, transforming patent technology, throughly implementing relative legislations and regulations and supporting excellent enterprises.
