The number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in China has been more than 42 million which is 99.8 percent of the total number of enterprises, but only 10 percent less of those has been informatization . Although 80 percent of SMEs have access to Internet, business applications is only 44.2 percent, o 9 percent of SMEs are in the implementation of e-commerce, and 4.8 percent for ERP application. National SMEs' information-based social service system is not universal enough now, still in initial steps.Based on above, this article studies the method and theories doing by large enterprises and takes a medium-sized chemical enterprise informatization as a case to emphasize three outstanding issues in the process of enterprise informatization which including system architecture and construction methods, the supplier selection and system implementation track management. The article first introduces industry solution and theory, then sum up characters and methods which SMEs should focus on, and finally verify these theories through enterprise case implementation result. For SMEs informatization, this article think the enterprise should focus on three aspects i.e. system architecture and construction methods, supplier selection and system implementation track management based on the actual human and capital ability. Neglect of these three aspects is often resulting in informatization failures, large enterprises as well.
