The rode to ecological civilization is not only be an active choice that we human made in our history but also be the only way to solve the problem which has produced in primitive civilization, agricultural civilization and the industrial civilization. Energy use for the construction of ecological civilization is a double-edged sword. Therefore, to explore the relationship between energy use and ecological civilization has a great significance.Through literature review we have summarized and improved some of results for the research of ecological civilization. For the content of ecological civilization, we think ecological economy, ecological consciousness(Expressed as ecological behavior) as well as ecological living must be the three main aspects of ecological civilization construction in Jiangxi Province. For the evaluation methods of ecological civilization, we think ECCI Evaluation System and its framework could be more rational and scientific.For the evaluation model, we found that scholars have use entropy method to determine the Index Weight widely but they seems ignores the original meaning of the entropy method- the difference between the relational data is the core idea for entropy method to determine Index weight. For this problem, we have finally made it done through the way of Theoretical calculation, examples proving and literature summarizing. In order to improve the entropy method in this research, we have successfully combined the extreme value method and variation coefficient method with it. After that, we calculated the Jiangxi Province urban ecological civilization index of 1998-2014 through the use of improved entropy methods.In addition, we have established a variable of energy consumption per unit area to represent energy use in Jiangxi Province. At the same time,we also have do a research for the variable of energy consumption per unit area and the ecological civilization index correlation analysis, curve fitting, and lag analysis.In the result of this study, we find that the ecological civilization index are growing forward but the differences among the cities of Jiangxi Province are getting smaller and smaller. This indicates that there is a catch-up effect to some extent. In addition, energy consumption per unit area has obvious positive role in promoting the construction of ecological civilization. And different energy consumption per unit area of each city hasdifferent levels under the influence of ecological civilization. Although the use of energy will always bring some negative impact on the ecological civilization, but Xinyu City represent a high-energy consumption per unit area and a high-speed in ecological civilization construction at the same time. This suggests that the experience of Xinyu City is worth to learn for other cities. Finally,we found a long-term stable equilibrium relationship between the growth rate of energy consumption per unit area and the growth rate of ecological civilization.Further more, the growth rate of energy consumption per unit area is the Granger cause of the growth rate of ecological civilization, and not vice versa.Moreover, we find that there exist some kind of lag effects on ecological civilization and energy consumption per unit area, and different urban areas has different lag time.Therefore, we recommend Jiangxi Province should be reasonable to increase some amount of energy use, and learn from the experience of Xinyu City and establish long-term mechanism of energy use, to give time to cultivate ecological civilization.
