In recent years, with the development of economy, energy consumption is growing, and then brings the ecological environmental problems which also emerge in endlessly. As a result, more and more countries begin to focus on new energy development and utilization, and to replace the traditional energy to electricity. As is known to all, solar energy with its universality, harmlessness and continuity, etc, comparing with the traditional energy sources such as oil, coal and natural gas, has the incomparable advantage. And solar energy resource is very abundant in China’s northwest region, because of its unique geographical location advantage. However, the economic benefit of the northwest region of the photovoltaic industry is still relatively low at present. As a result, analyzing the economy of the northwest region of photovoltaic industry in China is not only beneficial to propose targeted strategy to reduce the cost of photovoltaic power generation, but also helps to improve the feed-in tariff mechanism of subsidy, solve some practical problems from the northwestern province of photovoltaic power generation.Following the related theory research and certain principle, this article firstly analyses the valuation model of photovoltaic power generation cost, and make a quantitative evaluation of factors affecting the cost of photovoltaic power generation. The results show that the unit installed costs, operating expense ratio and loan conditions was positively proportional relationship with photovoltaic power generation cost, but the investment recovery period and the number of hours at full load power is inversely proportional to the cost of photovoltaic power generation. Secondly, using the learning curve model to analyze the photovoltaic power generation cost change in the next decade of northwest area. And the result shows that the photovoltaic power generation cost price can reduced to 0.4 yuan / kWh or less, which is lower than the same stage of thermal power generation cost; Then this paper also analyses the economic benefit of the photovoltaic industry, and the result shows that the future of northwest power earning is very optimistic; Finally, comprehensive the above research results, some suggestions are put forward according to the angles of government and photovoltaic power station, which will improve the economic benefits of photovoltaic industry in northwest area.
